Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs-Upper Primary TET weightage calculation)
Q: Can I round off my graduation percentage to get a higher merit score?
A: No. According to the official rules, no rounding off of percentages is allowed when calculating the academic score. For example, if you have 59.9%, it will fall into the “Below 60% to 50%” tier (8 marks), not the 60% and above tier.
Q: How is prior teaching experience calculated?
A: The (Upper Primary TET weightage calculation) calculation varies by level: For Upper Primary, you are awarded 1 mark per year of service (maximum 5 marks). For Classes IX-XII, you are awarded 2 marks per year of service (maximum 10 marks). This applies to service in a substantive post (permanent or contractual) at a government, government-aided, or government-sponsored school.
Q: Do I have to give a lecture demonstration?
A: Yes. Appearance before the Interview Board for both the Oral Interview and the Lecture Demonstration is strictly compulsory for all class levels.
Q: Are TET marks considered for High School (IX-XII) recruitment?
A: No. Based on the Gazette (Upper Primary TET weightage calculation) notification, TET Weightage (40 marks) is only applicable for the Upper Primary Level. Classes IX & X and XI & XII selection relies heavily on a 60-mark written examination instead.
Q: What happens if I apply for a language subject without having studied it as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd language previously?
A: You are still allowed to appear, but you will be treated strictly as a General Candidate. You will not receive any concessions or relaxations regarding your age limit, application fees, or minimum qualifying marks.
Q: Are B.Ed. or D.El.Ed. marks counted in the new Academic Score calculation?
A: No. The new WBSSC 2025 criteria explicitly state that the 10-mark “Educational Qualification/Academic Score” is based entirely on your Graduation or Post Graduation marks. Weightage for professional training (B.Ed/D.El.Ed) is no longer listed in this specific point breakdown.
