Selection Process: A Detailed Look 📝
The selection for all non-teaching posts will be made through direct recruitment by the Central Commission. The process involves a combination of written examination, academic performance evaluation, relevant experience, and an interview.
1. Librarian Selection Process
- Written Examination (OMR based): 75 Marks
- Academic Qualifications (including Professional Qualifications): 10 Marks
- Similar Experience: 5 Marks (1 mark for each completed year)

2. Group C (Clerk) Selection Process

Important Aspects of the Recruitment Process 💡
Application Mode
All applications for the State Level Selection Test must be submitted exclusively through the online mode. Candidates will be able to download their filled application forms after successful submission.
Written Examination Details
- The written examination will be an OMR-based test with multiple-choice questions.
- OMR sheets will be in duplicate, allowing candidates to retain a copy.
- A final model answer key will be uploaded on the Central Commission’s website after review by an expert committee.
Interview & Merit List
- Candidates qualified for the interview will be listed based on their preliminary merit score. The number of candidates called for interview will not exceed twice the number of final vacancies.
- Attaining the Cut-off marks for a category is mandatory for being merit-listed.
- In case of a tie in aggregate marks, the merit position will be determined by:
- Marks in the written examination.
- Higher academic score (for Librarian/Clerk only).
- Earlier date of birth.
- The Central Commission will publish the panel and waiting list on its website and notice boards of Regional Commissions.
Panel Validity & Recommendation
- Each panel and waiting list will be valid for one year from the date of first counselling, extendable by a maximum of six months with State Government approval.
- Regional Commissions will conduct counselling to allot candidates against vacancies.
- Recommendation letters will be valid for 90 days, extendable by 60 days for reasonable cause.
- Candidates who refuse allotment, do not join, or misrepresent facts may be de-paneled or de-waitlisted.

Selection to various posts under WBSSC 2025 will be made through Written Examination, Evaluation of Qualifications & Experience, and Interview as per the following guidelines:
📘 Part-A: Librarian Selection Criteria
Selection to the post of Librarian shall be made on the basis of:
- (a) Written Examination (OMR based): 75 Marks
- (b) Academic Qualifications & Experience:
- Professional Qualifications – 10 Marks
- Relevant Work Experience – 5 Marks (One mark for each completed year, up to 15 Marks)
- (c) Oral Interview: 10 Marks
(Appearance before the Interview Board is compulsory)
Note: Academic & professional qualifications will be evaluated as per Table 1 of Part D.
📗 Part-B: Clerk (Group-C) Selection Criteria
Selection to the post of Clerk in schools shall be made based on:
- (a) Written Examination (OMR based): 60 Marks
- (b) Academic Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic Score – 10 Marks
- Relevant Work Experience – 5 Marks (One mark per completed year)
- (c) Interview + Typing & Computer Proficiency: 25 Marks
- i. Oral Interview: 10 Marks
- ii. Typing using Computer & Proficiency Test: 15 Marks
Note: Academic qualifications will be evaluated in accordance with Table 2 of Part D.
PART-C
Selection to the post of Group D Staff in School shall be made on the basis of Written examination, similar experience and Interview to be determined by the Commission in the following manner:–
- (a) Written examination (OMR based) – 40 marks
- (b) Similar experience – 05 marks
- (b) Oral Interview – 05 marks
